Our Staff & Mentors

ALIVE adventure ~ YES! Youth Empowerment Services are staffed by friendly, experienced and trained leaders with the goal of personal well being for each participant and group.

The core senior staff-mentors of the ALIVE ~ YES! staff have years of experience in wilderness therapy, outdoor leadership, adventure education, NLP, ropes course, earth-based teachings, guided visualizations, sound therapy and substance abuse counseling and life-skills teaching. The combination of therapeutic modalities to support positive change and successful transitions are a strong-hold for our staff. Combining empowerment models with earth-based teachings in conjunction with Team and Family dynamics, interpersonal relations, youth and family leadership and risk, provides for very powerful programs and successful life changes. “All of our staff have a life-long quest to assist people, youth ~ families and teams to grow into deeper relations.

Each staff and mentor is certified with CPR and First Aid and trained within the standards of the Wilderness Guides Council ethics and bylaws.

D. Forrest Melton Jr. is dedicated to the empowerment of Boys and Men, through adventure based Rites of Passage programs, ongoing mentoring and teambuilding. Forrest has a natural ability to see the positive intention in the actions of these boys / men / teams and is a powerful guide into a deeper understanding of themselves.

Personal success and failure have lead Forrest to seek out the “Art of Living” Forrest has traveled through over 20 countries, searching for similarities, adventures and the uniqueness in all of us.

Forrest became impassioned to figure out the “meaning of life”. After years of personal self-introspection, Forrest began to design programs with the basic concept of …“Helping Others to Help Themselves … through a Natural Process and a Celebration of Life”.

Over the past decade, Forrest has been trained as a NLP (Neuro-Linguistic-Programming) practitioner, Ropes Course instructor, Whitewater River guide, Wilderness Therapy instructor, Youth & Family Empowerment mentor, Personal Development facilitator, Speaker, Rites of Passage specialist, Vision Quest guide and Adventure educator. Forrest has hosted Youth programs at Columbine High School, Success Fundamentals workshops, owned SAGE Self-Empowerment seminars and now owns and operates YES!
